You should know your elected officials. Here's Karen's story.

Award-Winning Small Business Owner
For the past fifteen years, Karen has owned and operated a heating, cooling, ventilation, and plumbing company serving the Kansas City metro area. From 2022 to 2024, her business was named one of Ingram’s Magazine and Inc. 5000’s fastest-growing companies. In 2023, 2024, and 2025, the Kansas City Chamber recognized it as one of the city’s Top 10 Small Businesses.
Karen understands what it takes to manage tight budgets, lead teams through uncertain times, and deliver results. She knows how to make payroll, navigate staffing shortages, and overcome regulatory red tape. Her experience as a small business leader has prepared her to bring accountability, efficiency, and problem-solving to Johnson County government.
Nonprofit and Civic Leader
Karen is a dedicated community volunteer. She is a Past President of the Junior League of Kansas City, MO, one of the largest and oldest women's civic organizations in our Metro. Her volunteer efforts span a wide range of causes, including work with the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Kansas City Zoo/Kids Jazzoo, Daughters of the American Revolution, Women in HVACR, St. Paul Catholic Church and School, and St. James Academy.
In 2019, Karen founded Strong Homes, Strong Families, a nonprofit that helps struggling homeowners with urgent repairs. The organization continues to provide life-changing assistance for families facing hardship.

Rooted in Johnson County
Karen was raised by a hardworking traveling salesman and spent her early years moving from town to town. When she moved to Johnson County in 2004, she found her “home” and began planting deep roots. She loves this community and is dedicated to serving the families and neighborhoods she loves.
Now, she’s running for Commission Chair to bring her experience, dedication, and common sense leadership to the job—ensuring that Johnson County stays a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
