Priorities, because just identifying issues isn't enough.
Defending against property taxes.
Five years ago, Johnson County’s budget was $1.26 billion. In 2025, it has ballooned by 45% to $1.83 billion. These increases aren’t resulting in better services—they’re burdening families and funding bloated budgets.
Karen Crnkovich pledges to fight for real tax relief. As Commission Chair, she will fight to cut property taxes, rein in runaway spending, and restore fiscal sanity to the county budget.

Getting Government Spending Under Control
The Johnson County budget has increased dramatically in recent years—more than 45% growth. COVID-era funding was supposed to be temporary, yet those funds have now created permanent spending obligations.
Karen will lead the charge to eliminate waste, reduce non-essential spending, and restore transparency to the budgeting process. She pledges to lower taxes—not raise them—and will insist that every tax dollar is spent wisely and responsibly.

Making Johnson County Family Friendly Again

Karen believes Johnson County should prioritize pathways to single-family homeownership—not just continue building more high-density developments that benefit out-of-state corporations and Wall Street investors.
She will support policies that expand access to affordable homes, keep neighborhoods family-friendly, and prevent institutional buyers from pricing out local families.
